Recreational Liability Waivers: Are They Valid?

Have you ever questioned the validity of that liability waiver you signed when you registered for a recreational event or when you signed up your child for a sports team? According to Minnesota Statute, liability waivers signed after August 1, 2013 may now limit, release, or waive liability resulting from "ordinary negligence." However, a waiver attempting to waive anything "greater than ordinary negligence" is against public policy and is therefore void and unenforceable.
